When co-workers planned a dinner at Swayz, I was admittedly nervous. The Yelp reviews were not stellar and Mexican restaurants can vary widely in quality and cleanliness. I am pleased to say, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee! The chips and salsa were delicious, but my favorite was the spicy steak enchiladas. This dish was so spicy, it made my nose run! Yum! Very flavorful. Our server was friendly and kept our water and Margaritas refilled. I will definitely return to Swayz!

Great little spot. Good people, hot, fresh chips, delicious salsa and a spicy chicken cabbage salad (just try it) that's just about perfect! Oh and the margs are tasty. Finish with an apple pie shot!

Easily the best Mexican food in Cudahy! The restaurant is small, but cozy and the service is spot on! They have daily food specials, along with certain drink specials on the 5th of every month for "cinco de swayz". The chips are deliciously seasoned, and every time I've gone the chips have been warm and fresh! I've ordered the enchiladas, tostadas and burrito and enjoyed all of them - each comes with a generous helping of rice and refried beans. And best to come hungry because the portion sizes are large, especially the burrito which is hard to eat in one sitting. I almost always walk away with leftovers. To top it all off, they kick it up a notch with a free apple pie shot (with whipped cream) at the end of your meal if you'd like. Deliciosa!

We went to Swayz on a whim, hoping for a mexican food gem... The good: The chips and salsa were both seasoned well. The rice and beans were fine. The margarita was good. Our waitress was overall nice. The Bad: The meat in my taco was so overcooked and rubbery, that I ended up just eating rice and beans. :-( The Ugly: My fiancee ordered a spicy steak dish. It was unbearable spicy. He mentioned this to the waitress and she made no offer to help fix the situation. I guess this is what I guess hoping for good Mexican food in Cudahy.

My husband & I went there for takeout so I can only speak on the takeout service... I had ordered ground beef tacos - we had to wait an extra 15 to 20 minutes extra for the tacos because they didn't have the ground beef made. How long does it take to make ground beef?!? But the waitress we had was very nice & apologetic for the wait. We did get a $5 gift certificate because of the wait - which we will use because during the wait, they gave us chips & salsa. Those chips were fantastic - I could have sat there & just ate the chips.

Place is adorable and service is great. Got the steak salsa verde something and it had amazing flavor but the steak was way too tough. I would absolutely try again but get something else. Girl at the bar recommended the margaritas and they were amazing and strong.

Another great dinner capped off w/ apple pie shots. Our favorite server Brittanie S. Was awesome and extremely attentive. Congrats on the baby Brittanie!

It's so hard to find good Mexican food out in the burbs, and every time we try a burbs place, we sadly want to journey 40 minutes to Swayz. I miss the shrimp tacos, and enchiladas with the dark mole sauce...and of course the potent margaritas.

If Swayz were a house at Hogwarts it would be Gryffindor and all points would be awarded to it. To say that my last visit was anything but perfect would be nefarious and downright criminal. Cut to reality - I think Swayz is a great restaurant. The chips are salty and greasy so if that's not your thing grow up or be prepared to towel them down. These chips are so fresh. The food is just a notch or two above adequate (bordering on "eh, this is pretty good.") and the service is supreme. The margaritas were apparent but not memorable. If this is the one thing from stopping you from going in you need to give them a break. Great service. Some of the folks that dined with me thought the restaurant was "chilly" and it was. The warm atmosphere more than made up for this though. Spoiler alert!!! The meal ends with a complimentary Apple Pie Shot which is divine. Highlights in list form: - never ending salsa and chips - the chips and salsa are good if you like salty chips - the chicken actually has a flavor to it regardless of the surrounding spices/seasonings - the service - the service - the service - happy ending :)

Awesome awesome place, first time here and I love it. Salsa and nice hot chips are the yummiest I've had. It's real salsa not no pico de gallo. I had the fish tacos... Delicious !! Haven't had any better than these. The sour cream is a little on the salty side but not so bad. I probably noticed it because I don't have salt a lot. The boy had drunk steak (arrachera) tacos , meaning the steak was marinated in beer and lime.... He loved them !! Rice and beans are just like home and we even got apple pie shots on the house. Go here you won't be disappointed !!!!!!

Great little Mexican dive... many good times had in here. Servers are great fun, even gave me a souvenier light up pen with their name on it! WOW Salsa is the best, just right not too mild and not too hot. Love the selection of margaritas. Jalapeno peach (yes, very spicy!) or my favorite cilantro lime. I'm usually not big on frozen margaritas but with these unique fresh ingredients make it really good. Several veg options, some better than others (burrito is very big with mostly iceburg lettuce inside) but Guacamole tostados are really good, with as presumed plenty of guac. My friends are fans of the tacos. Mexican fried ice cream is very good as are the apple pie shots they sometimes send us out the door with!... ;)

I knew I was in trouble when the bartender didn't know what Cointreau or Grand Mariner was and they were supposed to be making me a margarita... Ok, so I recommend sticking to the beer if you are a margarita snob like me, but I really like their chips and salsa. They are super addicting and yum. That's enough to keep me coming back. Food is your reliable standard Mexican comfort food. They have a frequent diner program, where they'll give you a free dinner after so many.

Just had dinner here for the first time Labor Day weekend 2013. My friend had the chile rellenos and thought they were great! In fact he couldn't believe one of the peppers was a jalapeno! We loved the guac and the salsa! I had the steak tacos staying on the safe side! They were great too although I wish they had Barbacoa as an option as I am a big fan. The service was great and we ate outside. They even gave us complimentary apple pie shots for "dessert". We would have never ordered these but really good! Thanks for a great neighborhood place!

The Swayz Train is in no way affiliated with Patrick Swayze.. I for one am disappointed.

I only go to Swayz when the weather is nice and I can sit at the outdoor patio, so I cannot speak to the indoor ambiance. But the patio is pretty relaxing. My boyfriend likes the margaritas, especially to wash down warm, salty chips. The fajitas are a heaping plate with green, yellow and orange peppers and onions. The mole is pretty good too. Good portions and fresh.

Best (and only) True California Style Fish Tacos in town!!! I was shocked and pleased when we stumbled upon this. I never expected to find the only true baja style fish tacos in cudahy!

Just another hole in the wall Mexican place with blah food and sub par service. Prices are too high for what you get!

Quiet little place with really good food. The spicy verde enchiladas had just the right amount of heat. Service was a bit slow even though the dining room wasn't very busy. Thankfully the food was much better than the service.

This is a small Mexican joint tucked out of the way. It feels like a house converted to a restaurant. We liked the fresh chips, fish tacos and chimichangas.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
